An Overview

FSSAI registration and licensing is mandatory for all businesses that manufacture, sell food and products. All food business operators such as retailers, permanent and temporary stalls, restaurants, canteens, food products manufacturers whose turnover is upto 12 lakhs per annum need to register with FSSAI under FSS Act, 2006. All Food Business Operators whose turnover is above 12 lakhs per annum need FSSAI license.

FSSAI registration can take up to 7 days as per FSSAI norms. Registering Authority may order inspection within 7 days from application and complete the inspection within 30 days from the application date before approving the registration.

FSSAI licenses are valid for a period of 1 year to 5 years and need to be renewed atleast 30 days prior to the expiry date.
